Pienaar targets Toffees stay

On-loan Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar is hoping to impress enough with the Toffees to earn a permanent switch from Borussia Dortmund.

The 25-year-old South Africa international has made a positive start to life at Goodison Park, having struggled to find top form during his one season at the Westfalenstadion.

Pienaar told the Daily Star: "I want to establish myself in the Premier League and to make my move permanent.

"At the moment I'm just here on loan, but it's not in my mind that I'm here on loan.

"I'm here to play football and fight for my place and it's up to me to make it permanent by showing I deserve to be here."

Pienaar has made nine appearances for Everton to date, with his first goal for the club coming in the 2-0 win over Middlesbrough at the end of September.
