Osman hails Yakubu return

Leon Osman has hailed Everton team-mate Yakubu after the striker scored his first goal since returning from a nine-month absence against Hull City on Wednesday. The Nigerian frontman has been eased back into first-team action this season by manager David Moyes after snapping his Achilles tendon in a match against Tottenham in November 2008. The former Middlesbrough man started his first game against the Tigers in the Carling Cup third round and opened the scoring in a 4-0 win. Osman, who captained the side for the night, has had to endure his own personal injury heartache when he was sidelined for a year with a knee problem in 1998 and highlighted that it was brilliant having Yakubu back amongst the squad. "It's just so great to see Yak back among us," he told the Liverpool Echo. "I have experience being out for long periods myself and it is hard to take but he has stayed so positive throughout and has worked hard to get that first start. "He scored the kind of goal that only Yak does. It was just great to see him do it and we are all delighted for him."
