One position good for Jags

Phil Jagielka believes that a consistent stint as an Everton centre-back has made his England call-up possible.[LNB] At his previous club Sheffield United, Jagielka often swapped between centre-half and a central midfield role but since moving to Merseyside he has settled into a defensive partnership with fellow England hopeful Joleon Lescott.[LNB]If the 26-year-old is to establish himself as a world-class player, he thinks he must make his mark on one position.[LNB]"Obviously when you are coming through the game you just want to play in whatever position is available," Jagielka told The FA's official website.[LNB]"But to establish yourself at the top level you have to be less a jack of all trades and more a master of one.[LNB]Fantastic"I will still play in other positions but I am happy that I have been able to have a consistent run as a centre-half."[LNB]Jagielka's only England cap came off the bench against Trinidad and Tobago last year.[LNB]"My debut in Trinidad was a brilliant moment," he added.[LNB]"It wasn't just five minutes either. To get half a game was fantastic and something I've always wanted to do.[LNB]"I was happy enough the season before to earn an England 'B' cap so going one better the following season was fantastic."[LNB]His second call-up is against much more formidable opposition as England take on European champions Spain on Wednesday night.[LNB]
