Preston North End have given two Premier League clubs permission to open talks with England international striker, David Nugent.
The 22-year-old is set to leave the Lilywhites this summer to try his luck at the highest level, with a host of clubs on his trail.
Aston Villa, Everton, Portsmouth, Sunderland and West Ham United are all rumoured to be interested in Nugent, who marked his international bow with a goal in the 3-0 win over Andorra in March.
Lilywhites chairman, Derek Shaw, told the club's official website: "We have given permission for two clubs to speak to David Nugent.
"At this moment in time no further information will be announced, it is down to David and his representative to talk to the clubs involved.
"We are respecting the request of the two clubs not to state who they are at this stage and we will announce any further developments as they happen."
Nugent has scored 37 goals in 107 appearances for Preston since joining from Bury in January 2005 for a mere £100,000.
The Deepdale club are believed to be asking for around £6million for their star striker.
