No window rush for Moyes
02 Jan 2009 - 11:17:53
Everton boss David Moyes insists he will not be rushed into adding any new players to his squad during the transfer window.
The Toffees have shrugged off a below-par start to the season to reclaim a place in the Premier League's top-six in recent weeks.
Their resurgence has coincided with a shortage of strikers brought on by injuries to the likes of Ayegbeni Yakubu, James Vaughan, Louis Saha and Victor Anichebe.
But despite the shortage of players, Moyes is in no rush to bolster his squad now that the transfer window has reopened.
"I don't see any reason why I would start rushing into things if I don't think I need to," he told the club's official website.
"It takes time and a lot of work goes into it. We've got a big scouting staff and we work as thoroughly as we can to make sure any signings we make we get right.
"It doesn't always work out in this game - no matter how many times you check people out, there's no guarantee. That's why I take my time deliberating because that's my style.
"At the moment there's nothing to report as far as anything which is imminent, so we'll keep looking and hoping the right ones come along before the end of the window.
"It's (January) a month when not many big transfers tend to be done, but it can be important for many clubs and it may be important for us."
