Newcastle 2 Everton 1: Ryan Taylor wonderstrike seals it

05 November 2011 14:39
Newcastle temporarily moved into second place in the Premier League after Johnny Heitinga's own goal and a fabulous half-volley from Ryan Taylor secured a hard-fought win over Everton. [LNB]Alan Pardew's side, who remain unbeaten in the top flight, exploded out of the blocks and led inside 12 minutes when Dutchman Heitinga turned Danny Simpson's cross past Tim Howard. [LNB]The next goal was as brilliant as that the opener had been comical, with Taylor latching onto a bouncing ball some 25 yards from goal, before unleashing a ferocious, dipping drive that clipped the underside of the crossbar on the way in. [LNB]Jack Rodwell pulled a goal back from a corner in first-half stoppage time and, although the visitors enjoyed significantly more of the ball after the break, Newcastle held on.[LNB]More to follow.....[LNB] Party Tyne: Newcastle maintained their unbeaten start to the season at home to Everton[LNB] [LNB][LNB][LNB] Something special: Ryan Taylor illuminated St James' Park with a spectacular strike[LNB] [LNB] Helping hand: Johnny Heitinga inexcusably gave Newcastle the lead with an own goal[LNB] [LNB] Oh no: The goal after 12 minutes knocked the stuffing out of Everton[LNB] [LNB] Try as he might: Louis Saha endured a frustrating afternoon, striking the post[LNB] [LNB][LNB][LNB][LNB] 'The No 9 shirt doesn't score, it's the player' says Toon star BaIt's Tyne for a party...
