New Lescott bid to be rejected
29 Jul 2009 - 12:47:53
Reports suggest that Everton will reject a second offer from Manchester City for their England international Joleon Lescott.
Mark Hughes is believed to be ready to launch a £20million offer for the former Wolves defender, but the Toffees will rebuff it, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Earlier in the month David Moyes and his chairman Bill Kenwright rejected a £15million bid by City for Lescott and stated their intention to hold on to all their players.
Kenwright was quoted as saying: "You heard what David Moyes said and he said it right at the start of the summer and I think all of this speculation doesn't do anyone any favours.
"David Moyes, and only David Moyes I promise you, will make the decisions on the playing staff at this football club. He said - and he means it - nobody is for sale."
Lescott moved to Goodison Park in the summer of 2006 and only signed a new Everton contract in March that runs for another four years.
City have missed out on signing Chelsea captain John Terry but are on the verge of luring Arsenal's Kolo Toure to Eastlands.
