Everton captain Phil Neville has urged his team-mates to do everything in their power to secure a return to European football next season.
The Toffees crashed out of the UEFA Cup in the first round this term, losing out to Belgian champions Standard Liege, while they have also struggled for domestic form.
Neville told the Daily Echo: "Without a doubt we can still qualify for Europe. If we don't, as players we need to take a long, hard look at ourselves.
"At the moment the buck stops with the players and we have to accept more responsibility, show more courage.
"We climbed a mountain last season and we need to show we can do it again.
"It's massive going out of Europe. People at Everton still talk about the European run of last season. Last season was the reason we wanted European football again so badly.
"I think the players and the manager will miss that, but what we've got to do is make sure we're in that competition next year."
