Moyes warns McFadden
16 Nov 2006 - 13:52:13
Everton boss David Moyes has challenged Scotland forward James McFadden to overcome a disrupted start to the season and prove his worth for the Toffees.
Injury and suspension have hampered McFadden's progress, with Moyes having expected the 23-year-old former Motherwell ace to be a key figure this term.
He told the Daily Post: "He missed quite a bit of time with injury and just when he looked as if it was behind him, he got suspended.
"He needs to knuckle down now. We will need a few players to stand up and be counted and I hope James is one of them.
"I was pleased by the way he looked during the summer.
"He was bright, he looked fit and sharp and it looked as if he had taken on board a couple of things that we have talked to him about over the last couple of years, like his decision making.
"He looked stronger and showed that he was mature as well, but it is disappointing that we haven't had a chance to see that so far."
