Moyes ready to shuffle
14 Sep 2007 - 08:40:39
Everton boss David Moyes is ready to turn to some fringe members of his squad as he enters one of the busiest periods of his Toffees reign.
The Merseysiders take on Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday before kicking off their UEFA Cup campaign in midweek when they host Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv.
The Toffees will play seven times in the next 22 days and Moyes is ready to shuffle his pack in a bid to keep his side fresh.
"This is going to be a tough period for us with a lot of games coming up thick and fast," he admitted.
"All of our players are going to be involved at some point, which is why we have tried to expand our squad."
Meanwhile, new £11.25million signing Ayegbeni Yakubu is keen to make an impression on his Goodison Park debut at the weekend.
The Nigeria striker scored on his club debut in the away victory at Bolton Wanderers before the international break and has set his sights on finding the net against the champions.
"It will be a good feeling to run out at Goodison," he told the club's official website.
"In the game at Bolton the way the fans treated me was unbelievable and I hope I will get the same reception at home.
"You want to impress them and I am looking forward to the game.
"They beat us at Goodison last season but this time I hope it can be different. We have learnt a lot from what happened."
