Moyes predicts Rooney return

Everton manager David Moyes has predicted that Wayne Rooney will one day return to Everton. Moyes spoke of the excitement that Rooney provided during his time at Goodison Park and admits that, despite leaving for Manchester United, the striker would be welcomed back by the club. More importantly, the Everton manager also believes that the England forward would also be happy to move back to the club later in his career. Moyes was speaking 10 years after Rooney scored his first-ever Premier League goal as a teenager to end Arsenal's lengthy unbeaten run in 2002. "There have been four or five occasions when I have been in the dressing room and been able to hear the supporters singing on their way home. That Arsenal game was one of them," Moyes said. "They had just seen a boy who was probably one of the last street footballers, and he had gone on, at 16, and scored a spectacular winner against Arsenal. He was one of them. "I would certainly welcome Wayne back. It's more likely to be later in his career but I think it is something even he would welcome." And Moyes believes that Rooney has fulfilled his potential he showed a decade ago at Goodison Park. "I think he has gone on to be the player everyone expected him to be. He has won a European Cup and titles and has been exceptional."
