Everton manager David Moyes has not given up hope of his side retrieving a two-goal deficit against Fiorentina and sealing their place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup.
Moyes' side crashed to a 2-0 defeat after a tight first leg encounter in Florence, but the Everton boss believes his side has the character to complete a memorable comeback at Goodison Park on Wednesday.
He told the Liverpool Echo: "They scored two goals in the last 20 minutes. We need to get two in 90 to move the tie into extra-time at least.
"It wasn't a good performance by us over there, we know that, but we're not going to beat ourselves up over it. The players have been doing really well and we just have to get on with it.
"But defeats can actually be positives if you learn from them. We never reached the standards we've set for ourselves in Italy, but we want to show we're better than that.
"Many of the games we've played in Europe, we've won late on and, after 70 minutes last week, it looked as if we'd weathered the storm, even though we'd not played well.
"I can't deny that they deserved to win, but the game isn't lost by any means. It'll be difficult and we respect the opposition, but we're looking forward to the challenge."
