Moyes hits out over Lescott
14 Aug 2009 - 15:36:16
Everton boss David Moyes has hit out at Manchester City following their dogged pursuit of defender Joleon Lescott.
Moyes has rejected two big-money bids from City and a formal transfer request from the England international in recent weeks.
The Toffees boss is adamant that Lescott will remain at Goodison Park, but that did not stop City couterpart Mark Hughes from suggesting on Thursday that the deal was not yet dead in the water.
Hughes' claim that he was "trying to speak to the people who will ultimately make the decision over whether or not the deal continues" has particularly upset Moyes.
He responded: "I hear that City think they are talking to people who make the decisions here, well that's me.
"I make the decisions, they have not talked to me and the player has been consistently told he is not for sale.
"He (Lescott) should get his head around that and get on with his career."
