Australia international Tim Cahill has handed Everton a welcome boost by returning to training.
The 28-year-old former Millwall midfielder has not played for David Moyes' side since the 1-1 draw with West Ham United in March and was forced to have surgery on a troublesome metatarsal injury.
However, the Toffees' head physio Mick Rathbone told the club's official website. "Tim's back in full training. He's been training the last couple of days in fact.
"He got the go ahead from his surgeon in Sydney, who we sent the latest batch of X-rays to a week or so ago. He's emailed us back having reviewed them and he's delighted with the progress of the repair.
"He's trained brilliantly and he looks in very good shape. He's excelled at all the conditioning exercises and he's been champing at the bit to get back involved.
"All players want to play and he's had a lot of problems with that foot. But hopefully it's sorted now.
"The previous surgery hadn't really solved the problem but this was advanced, almost revolutionary surgery, and - touch wood - it looks good."
