Moyes hails Toffees return
21 Jan 2008 - 08:11:37
Everton manager David Moyes hailed his players' resilience after they moved up to fourth in the Premier League table on the back of Sunday's victory at Wigan Athletic.
The Toffees leapfrogged rivals Liverpool into the final Champions League qualification spot with a 2-1 win at the JJB Stadium in which Andrew Johnson and Joleon Lescott were on the mark.
Everton have now won both their league games since the surprise FA Cup third round defeat to Oldham Athletic two weeks ago and Moyes has been delighted by the response.
"After going out of the FA Cup, we've bounced back brilliantly and our league form has been outstanding," he told the club's official website.
"The big thing for me is that before the game the players expected to win.
"That's coming through because they've a great deal of faith and belief, even if we're not quite hitting the heights.
"We had been under a little bit of pressure and maybe the goals came against the run of play but that's the way we are at the moment.
"We are quite clinical and we have got people who can score goals at crucial moments."
