Moyes hails scorer Osman
07 Apr 2008 - 08:01:33
Everton manager David Moyes picked out Leon Osman for special praise as his stuttering side ground out a 1-0 victory against relegated Derby County at Goodison Park.
The unheralded midfielder scored the only goal of the match midway through the second half as the Toffees won despite being without the injured Tim Cahill.
Moyes said of the crucial goal: "It was a lovely pass and a lovely finish.
"I thought Leon Osman made the difference to the team when he moved into the middle of the park. The 20 minutes or so that he spent in there was probably the difference.
"I think his best position is central midfield, but for a lot of the time he's been in the wide positions.
"He can score goals as he did today - and he nearly got a second. He did well.
"I expect more goals from him. I think he has to add that to his game. I think consistently he plays well for us and he's reliable when he plays.
"I move him around into three or four different roles and he does it without a murmur."
