Everton boss David Moyes has revealed that Tony Hibbert and Leon Osman are close to agreeing contract extensions with the club.
Both players have 18 months left on their existing deals, but are ready to commit their long-term futures to the club.
Moyes told the Toffees' official website: "They're not coming to the end of their contracts, they've both got 18 months left on their contracts - but we're going to extend them.
"It looks as if both players are very close to agreeing their deals.
"I think the squad is bigger, stronger and the competition for places is certainly fiercer than it's ever been here before.
"The players know exactly the reasons we got in the extra players - to be in the cup competitions and push for the top end of the Premier League.
"Now we've got those players and we're in those cups and in a decent position in the league.
"We have quite a few selection dilemmas. There's nobody now who is an automatic choice."
