    Moyes delighted with victory

    18 Apr 2010 - 10:38:00

Everton manager David Moyes heaped praise on his players after their 3-2 win at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday that has further aided their European qualification charge this term.

The win has put the pressure back on Aston Villa, who take on Portsmouth on Sunday, as they chase a place in the Europa League next season and he also offered a word of advice to Mikel Arteta, after an incident that resulted in the Spaniard picking up a caution.

Arteta clashed with Blackburn winger Morten Gamst Pedersen and he appeared to poke the Norwegian in the eye, only to escape with a yellow card.

Speaking to reporters, he said: "I think they score more goals from set-pieces that anyone else, so it was always going to be a game where we had to make sure we didn't give too many away.

"Blackburn put us under a lot of pressure with them, but, ironically, it was us who scored from the long throw for our second goal.

"But I thought we defended it well, although there were some scary moments in the first half.

"I've said to Mikel, 'you just can't do that' but, if you look at some of the slaps he had to take from two or three challenges, I think he had every right to say he needed some protection.

"But obviously you can't do that."
