Moyes admits Everton fortune
07 Dec 2009 - 08:11:19
David Moyes admitted that Lady Luck had smiled on Everton after late goals and a penalty save earned them a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The Toffees had looked on course for an eighth Premier League defeat of the season when they went 2-0 behind to the north London club with 59 minutes on the clock at Goodison Park.
However, late goals from Louis Saha and Tim Cahill plus a stoppage-time Tim Howard penalty save from in-form Spurs striker Jermain Defoe earned the battling home side a precious point.
"I thought we deserved a bit of luck," explained Moyes.
"It was important because the players had worked incredibly hard and had got stuck in.
"We tried to get something and because of that we earned a bit of good fortune when it came around.
"I thought when it went to two each if anyone was going to make it 3-2 it was going to be Everton rather than Tottenham."
