Moyes: Toffees missed Arteta
01 Mar 2009 - 10:38:05
Everton manager David Moyes was relieved to see his side clinch a 2-0 win at home to basement side West Bromwich Albion.
Goals from Tim Cahill and Louis Saha were enough to secure the victory, as the Toffees coped well with the absence of injured playmaker Mikel Arteta.
Moyes commented: "The result was important and we got it. West Brom played well and made a few opportunities, but our keeper and defenders were in good form.
"Tim Cahill does what he does well, he scored again. Saha likewise, he scored a cracker.
"We can play better than that, but it was our first game without Arteta, who is out for the season and I wanted to see how we handled the situation.
"It was always going to be possible that we would find it difficult and West Brom certainly did enough to add to that concern.
"I am having to try to fill a gap left by someone who has really been making us play well and that is my job as a coach.
"But I also want to make the way we play much better. But we do not have an artist like Mikel, we will have to mould someone else into the role."
