Moyes welcomes Rodwell call-up

Everton manager David Moyes has welcomed Jack Rodwell's call-up by England Under-21s despite the midfielder still lacking fitness. Rodwell has not played for Everton since suffering an ankle injury in the defeat at Aston Villa on August 29 but has been an unused substitute in the last three games. That has not prevented Stuart Pearce naming him in his party to face Germany next week and Moyes hopes the 19-year-old benefits from the trip to Wiesbaden. Moyes said: "This is the first day I have actually thought, 'Yes, you're looking better'. He's said this morning (Friday) he is feeling more confident in his ankle, so I'm happy for him to go with the under-21s. "With a bit of luck he might get a bit of that game, which will help him improve his fitness and give him some match time."
