Moyes to give youth a chance
David Moyes has admitted he may be forced to turn to his talented youngsters as his selection dilemma intensifies.
The Everton boss is down to the bare bones ahead of Thursday's trip to Portugal for a Europa League date with Benfica.
His defensive options have been hit hardest, with Joseph Yobo, John Heitinga and Lucas Neill out of action due to a combination of injury and ineligibility.
As a result, the likes of Shane Duffy and Seamus Coleman could be given an opportunity to shine at Estadio da Luz.
Moyes admits the situation is far from ideal, with a summer rebuild at Benfica establishing them as a force to be reckoned with, but the Scot accepts that he must try and make the best of a difficult situation.
"We have very few options, and the players will have to cope with the situation," he said.
"There is a chance one of the young players will get an opportunity, but I'm going to have to give that some thought.
"We are up against a team full of outstanding Brazilian and Argentinian internationals, and I just wish we could put out a stronger line-up.
"They are a really good side. (Pablo) Aimar and Ramires are such a threat breaking forward from midfield and (Javier) Saviola is a handful up front.
"Aimar has got himself back in the Argentina side for the last couple of games and is very influential for Benfica. It's clear we are going to have our work cut out."
