Moyes targets top players

David Moyes is confident Everton will be 'attractive' to the top players this summer as he looks to close the gap on the Premier League's big four. Everton have finished fifth in the table for the past two seasons and Moyes is determined to break into the UEFA Champions League places again, having achieved that feat in 2005. He also led the Toffees to a first FA Cup final appearance in 14 years, but was unable to secure his first piece of silverware after a 2-1 defeat by Chelsea on Saturday. Moyes is aware that a gap remains between the top four clubs in the Premier League, but hopes quality signings in the summer will enable Everton to make further progress. The Scot was late in adding to his squad last summer and is keen to have the funds available to move swiftly in the transfer market this time around. Popular"We didn't have the finances until late on last year, so I'd like to get the money a bit earlier this time and do some quicker deals," said Moyes. "There is no reason why Everton should not be attractive to the top players. "The Premier League is popular all around the world and, if a player isn't getting to the small group of teams above us, we are one of the best stops after that. "There's no doubt that the gap to the top four is there, but everyone should hope we can break into that group. "That might alter the whole dynamic of football because if it's all just money, money, money we all know something is going to go wrong in the future."
