Moyes takes Brazilian prodigy Gerson on trial with a view to January deal

One for the future: Everton boss David Moyes is running the rule over Brazilian teenager Gerson[LNB]Everton have taken Brazilian defender Gerson on trial with a view to signing him from Botafogo in January.[LNB]The 17-year-old cannot move until his 18th birthday on January 7. He has a contract with the Rio de Janeiro side until 2012, but Botafogo will accept bids of about £900,000.[LNB]Gerson impressed recently on a tour of Holland with his club's youth team and has since been training with the seniors.[LNB]Moyes also issued a stern warning to the players already at the club who he believes have failed to perform during the Toffees' run of five matches without a win. 'I'm like an elephant, I don't forget if people don't perform and they let me down,' he said.[LNB]Meanwhile, Motherwell boss Jim Gannon hopes Everton will agree to extend the loan of goalkeeper John Ruddy till the end of the season.
