Moyes Sees Chance Of An Upset
David Moyes believes Manchester United's current form gives Everton hope of an FA Cup semi-final upset at Wembley on Sunday.
Many may feel the Everton boss is clutching at straws against a side who are seemingly moving relentlessly towards a quintuple despite a recent dip in performance levels in the Premier League.
But Moyes considers that United are "not at their best" and that gives him confidence his side can produce an upset.
Moyes said: "Our recent games against United have been tight, we have only lost by a late penalty and drawn a couple.
"But stopping Manchester United is one thing, scoring yourself is something different, so you must strike a balance.
"It is not easy, they have different ways of playing and different combinations of players that they can use.
"But the way Manchester United have been playing recently gives teams hope they can get something from games against them. That is why we are going into this semi-final with great confidence.
"But even though they may not be at their best, they always seem to win matches, they keep doing it regardless of how they are playing.
"These games are normal for them, but not for us. But we believe we are playing well and scoring goals.
"There is a real belief after victories against top-class sides to get this far, why can we not do the same to Manchester United?"
He added: "I hope it is all clicking at the right time for us. The expectation is on United, but we believe we have a real chance and our cup run has given us confidence.
"We lost in Europe and the League Cup early on, but the way we have played in the league and the FA Cup since then has been outstanding."
But Moyes still retains a great respect for his fellow Scot, Sir Alex Ferguson.
He said: "Sir Alex keeps coming up trumps with the teams he puts out and the wins he achieves, so he is certainly one of the best managers of our generation.
"We are from a different era, I was a player when he was starting to manage. so I am closer to his sons' age than him.
"I have asked him for advice and he has been helpful at times, but really the comparison comes from us both being from Glasgow."
Moyes will have Joseph Yobo and James Vaughan fit to join up with the squad following injuries, and he must decide whether to start the game with Louis Saha in place of cup-tied Brazilian striker Jo.
The alternative seems to be bringing teenager Jack Rodwell into midfield with Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini pushed forward into attack.
