Moyes runs out of options

Everton manager David Moyes believes the reason why his side drew with ten-man Newcastle was because he simply ran out of options.[LNB] The Toffees were already low on numbers for the trip to St James' Park with suspended duo Tim Cahill and Tony Hibbert missing out, while Marounane Fellaini and Louis Saha returned to the bench after recovering from injury.[LNB]But Moyes' problems worsened when midfielder Mikel Arteta was stretchered off with a knee injury early in the game.[LNB]More problems were to come for the Scot when Magpies midfielder Kevin Nolan received his marching orders for stamping down on striker Victor Anichebe.[LNB]Luckily the Nigerian managed to escape serious injury but he was still forced to be withdrawn with heavy bruising. [LNB]ResilientDespite their numerical advantage the visitors could not break down a resilient Newcastle defence.[LNB]"We lost out, we had too many players playing out of position and in the end we were close to breaking point," Moyes told Sky Sports 1.[LNB]"When we lost Mikel we just didn't have enough changes available to make the difference."[LNB]The former Preston boss acknowledged that the referee had got the decision to send Nolan off spot on although he revealed that he had accepted the midfielder's apology for the challenge.[LNB]"It was a definite sending off," he added.[LNB]"I don't think Kevin Nolan is that type of player but it was a bad tackle and it was definitely a sending off.[LNB]"But that's football. I have played the game but sometimes you have to hold your hands up and it was a bad tackle."[LNB]
