Moyes - Penalty was harsh

David Moyes felt the penalty decision which allowed Aston Villa to earn a 3-3 draw against Everton was 'harsh'. Everton led 2-0 and 3-1 at Villa Park before the hosts secured a point through Gareth Barry's spot-kick on 66 minutes. Referee Howard Webb penalised Joleon Lescott for a high boot after the Toffees defender appeared to catch Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov in the head. However, while understanding why the decision was given against Lescott, Moyes believes it was a harsh award from Webb. Liable "I think it was a harsh decision," Moyes told the club's official website. "When you raise your foot you are always liable, but if there is nobody there, there is no penalty. "He (Lescott) doesn't know the lad is there. We should have dealt with it before that, though." Moyes was happy with his team's performance in the Midlands, but conceded his disappointment at the failure to hold on to a lead. He added: "I thought we passed it well and we should take a lot of confidence from it. "It was a good game and a good game for the punters, but I am disappointed we didn't take three points after being a couple of goals up. "We are really pleased with the performance of the players."
