Moyes - League proves class

Everton boss David Moyes believes securing European football via the league is tougher than winning a cup.[LNB] The Toffees are currently battling for a place in Europe next season through their Premier League standing and also have an FA Cup quarter-final clash against either West Ham or Middlesbrough on the horizon.[LNB]Although winning the FA Cup guarantees a place in the Uefa Cup, Moyes believes it is a more prudent course of action to achieve a high league placing rather than looking towards a cup run.[LNB]The former Preston man also thinks that as teams can get easier cup draws, going on to win a trophy via that route does not necessarily demonstrate consistent football.[LNB]"The route we are taking through the cup is a tough one and it's not easy to win any trophy," he told the Liverpool Echo.[LNB]Very hard"We've found it very hard in recent years because Liverpool, Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea have the same thoughts - they want to pick them up.[LNB]"We've beaten a couple of top teams in one competition but there is no trophy to be won at this stage of the season and you have to keep your form going until May.[LNB]"You can get a pat on the back at this stage but it means nothing if you don't see it through.[LNB]"I believe being a good league side is more of a show of what kind of team you are. It's over 38 games and you have to show what you are all about.[LNB]"In the cup you could get a cushy draw all the way through and win it. Does that make you a good team or a great manager? I think you become a good team by consistency."[LNB]
