Moyes: I missed out on Ba

Everton manager David Moyes has revealed he missed out on signing striker Demba Ba before the start of last season. The Toffees were one of a number of clubs attempting to sign the Senegal international following his departure from West Ham but he eventually opted to sign for Newcastle. The 27-year-old then helped fire the Magpies into fifth place in the table and was voted signing of the season by Premier League managers. Moyes, whose side host Newcastle on Monday, said: "Ba was someone I was really interested in last year, but for a number of reasons the deal just didn't come off. "He's just another one of those who got away, and I've had plenty of them down the years. "We couldn't get Ba in and he did very well at Newcastle, but other options opened up for us in January and we were happy with what we got."
