Everton manager David Moyes has hailed the season-long effort of his players after their 3-1 defeat of West Ham.[LNB] The Toffees moved up to fifth-place in the Premier League with the victory as Aston Villa could only manage a draw with struggling Middlesbrough.[LNB]But Moyes insists that even if his side fall back to sixth on the final day of the season, it will still have been a fantastic campaign.[LNB]"If we could finish fifth it will be great but I still think it will be a really good season if we stay sixth," Moyes told Sky Sports.[LNB]"I think I would have taken that at the start of the season with the money which many clubs have spent, we didn't have that. [LNB]Credit"What's been great is the way our players have gone about it, I can't give them enough credit."[LNB]Despite enjoying the majority of possession in the opening minutes of the game, Everton fell behind when Radoslav Kovac struck from over 30 yards out.[LNB]The Scottish manager admits that it was a shock to see their opponents take the lead after such a positive start.[LNB]"I thought we were terrific in the first 20-30 minutes, we just couldn't pick that final pass or that final cross and then we found ourselves a goal down," Moyes added.[LNB]Shock"That was a shock to us but we had played well enough not to be in that situation.[LNB]"Overall, our play was really good I was pleased with the way the players started the game I was pleased the way we went about it but just disappointed that goal went in."[LNB]Moyes also had some sympathetic words for James Tomkins, who was sent-off for tripping Tim Cahill inside the penalty area.[LNB]He said: "It was a double whammy nobody likes it, you get a penalty kick and a player gets sent off. It's not what you want but it is the rules.[LNB]"It was a penalty kick there's no question about that, but I don't think any of us in football really like the rule where they get sent off."[LNB]
