Moyes craves trophy haul
David Moyes concedes he needs to win a trophy before he will be regarded as one of football's top bosses and accepts the country's biggest clubs are unlikely to come calling until he does so.
Everton play Manchester United at Wembley on Sunday for a place in this season's FA Cup final, with Moyes desperate to claim his first silverware as a manager.
The Scot has long-since been regarded as one of the Premier League's top tacticians for the work he has done during seven successful years at Goodison Park and Sir Alex Ferguson has often spoken of an admiration for his compatriot.
There has been talk of Moyes one day succeeding Ferguson at Old Trafford and while flattered by such conjecture, the Toffees chief insists he is more than content on Merseyside.
He is, though, willing to admit that adding a trophy to his CV would stand him in good stead for the future.
Ambition
"How many managers get a chance to work with the top boys?" he told the Daily Mail.
"You have to earn that right. The winning of a trophy like the FA Cup might help. For me it might even mean more than finishing fourth in the league, even if the league is a truer measure of success.
"But I see that only as part of where I want to go. Everton and David Moyes will win trophies in the end because perseverance and persistence will get us through.
"But I wouldn't worry about the pressure that comes with the biggest clubs. I thought I would be under pressure when I went to Everton.
"Leaving Preston I thought, "Gee whizz". But you just do your job, as well as you think you can do.
"Hopefully I'll get the money at Everton to show what I can do, because we need it to stay up there, to keep competing.
"I have always been loyal to the clubs I'm at and the fans have been loyal to me."
