Moyes blasts Scotland expectations

Everton boss David Moyes has blasted suggestions Scotland should be expected to reach World Cup finals. Moyes was in Glasgow on Wednesday to see his country's latest failure fail to reach a finals, the 1-0 defeat by Holland ending any hope the Scots had of going to South Africa next summer and putting doubt over the future of manager George Burley. Moyes said: "Scotland do not have any right to qualify. I've heard people saying it is terrible they did not qualify in front of Norway, Iceland and Macedonia." He added: "But why should we? We have to compete with everyone else and we are a team that has not qualified for any tournament for quite a while now. "George Burley has got the best he could out of the players he had. "Scotland is a nation who are not producing the amount of good players like we did in the past, so we cannot expect the same sort of results that we got in the past. "This is not the time for the manager to go. Why would Scotland think they have a right to qualify in front of the other sides in their group? I don't think they have that right."
