McFadden hints at return
23 Dec 2007 - 13:12:42
Everton striker James McFadden has revealed he hopes to move back to his native Scotland at some point in his career.
The Scotland international joined the Toffees from Motherwell in 2003 and has been mentioned as a possible January transfer target for Birmingham City.
The 24-year-old is often used as a substitute by Everton manager David Moyes and is looking to establish himself as a first-team regular at Goodison Park.
But the Glasgow-born forward has not ruled returning north of the border and is keeping his options open.
"I'd love to play in the Premiership but if it is not going to happen, or if a chance to go back up to Scotland came in and I felt it was the right thing for me to do, then I would do it," he told the Sunday Herald.
"Obviously it would be nice to be back with my family and back playing football again, but until that chance comes it is quite hard to answer that question.
"Hopefully it will happen one day but I will wait and see.
"The club have made it clear that they want to offer me a contract and I have not gone down that road yet because I want to try to get into the team before I start talking about contracts."
