    McFadden denies claims

    09 Nov 2006 - 07:41:48

Everton striker James McFadden has denied calling Graham Poll a cheat after being sent off during his side's Carling Cup defeat by Arsenal.

Poll – who is already in the spotlight after his controversial decision to send off Chelsea's John Terry last weekend – dismissed McFadden in the first half of the fourth round tie at Goodison Park.

Toffees boss David Moyes claimed the fourth official told him McFadden was red carded for calling Poll a cheat.

But the Scotland striker vehemently denies the claims after being brought by Moyes to the post-match press conference to explain his actions.

"The fourth official told me that he had been sent off because he had called the referee a cheat but James refutes that," claimed Moyes.

Poll is already under-fire after sending off Terry in last weekend's defeat at Spurs.

The Chelsea skipper claimed the official gave conflicting reasons for his second yellow card, while team-mate Ashley Cole also waded into the issue by claiming that Poll was overly harsh on the champions.
