Lucas Neill's so happy with Everton dream deal

Lucas Neill admitted he had 'landed on his feet' yesterday as he reflected on turning down a Champions League campaign with Atletico Madrid and signing a £2million one-year deal with Everton instead. The Australia defender described how he had been 'overwhelmed' at being swamped with offers when Sunderland, Blackburn and Galatasaray, as well as his former side West Ham, all joined the scramble for his signature. Atletico were nearest to winning the race until Everton boss David Moyes responded to the loss of Phil Neville to a long-term injury by pushing through a short-term deal for the versatile 31-year-old. Neill said: 'I started asking myself whether I really wanted to turn my back on England after spending all my senior career here.'
