Liverpool 9 Everton 3: Pienaar is the latest victim in Merseyside burglary spree

A 41-year-old man arrested in connection with a burglary at the home of Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar has been bailed.  The 27-year-old South African's home was broken into on Saturday while he was at Goodison Park preparing to play Tottenham, a police source said.  Pienaar is the latest Merseyside star to suffer at the hands of burglars. Everton team-mate Andy van der Meyde has been robbed twice, while former star Duncan Ferguson was also burgled on two occasions.  Steven Gerrard, Jermaine Pennant, Dirk Kuyt, Pepe Reina, Daniel Agger,Peter Crouch, Jerzy Dudek, Lucas and Robbie Keane have also beenvictims while playing for Liverpool in recent times.  Merseyside Police say officers were called to the house on Woolton Road in the exclusive Woolton suburb of Liverpool at about 2.30pm.  Three white men were seen leaving the house with their faces covered. It is not known if any property was taken. Police said a 41-year-old local man arrested on suspicion of burglary was bailed.  During the last few years Liverpool and Everton stars' homes have been targeted while players were on duty.  Reds captain Gerrard's house was broken into while he was abroad on European duty.  His wife Alex Curran was home when the thugs forced their way in.
