Lethal Toffees please Moyes
22 Feb 2008 - 09:20:35
Everton manager David Moyes praised the added attacking flair of his side after they cruised into the last 16 of the UEFA Cup after demolishing SK Brann.
The Toffees were already leading 2-0 from the first leg in Norway before Thursday's 6-1 rout of Brann at Goodison Park set up a tie with Fiorentina in the next round.
Everton have now won a club record seven successive European games and afterwards Moyes was delighted with the lethal showing from his attacking players.
Ayegbeni Yakubu helped himself to a hat-trick, while Andrew Johnson found the net twice and Mikel Arteta was also on the scoresheet.
"It was great to score six and it was a great performance," he said. "We have scored a few goals here at Goodison.
"It was a professional job and we could not take any chances with the team we put out tonight.
"We could have had more, we hit the woodwork twice and played some excellent stuff.
"We are getting better footballers into the team and that is showing now.
"The basics, the foundations, are in place and we wanted to add the flair and attacking quality.''
