Lescott seeks consistency

Everton's summer signing Joleon Lescott has his sights firmly set on maintaining the form he has shown in the first few weeks of his Toffees career.

The 24-year-old centre-half moved to Goodison Park for £5million from Wolves in the summer and has earned favourable reviews for his performances to date, but Lescott is taking nothing for granted.

He said: "I'm doing well, but I know the slightest mistake and someone will take over from me.

"I do not think I am doing anything outstanding, I'm just doing my best. I have just got to keep doing my job for the team and keep my feet on the ground.

"I don't want to have people saying I'm doing really well one week and making lots of mistakes the next."

"Things are going well for the team, but we have got to keep our feet on the ground and I, first and foremost, have got to make sure I keep my place in that team."
