Everton veteran Phil Neville has backed team-mate Joleon Lescott to become a regular member of the England set-up in the near future.
Twenty-five-year-old Lescott has impressed for the Toffees since his big-money move from Wolves in the summer of 2006, being equally at home at centre-half or left-back.
That has earned him two full caps to date, including a start in the 2-1 Euro 2008 qualifying defeat in Russia.
Neville said: "That game really opened his eyes to the fact that he can play at the top level.
"The thing that impresses me most is that Joleon works so hard, keeps his feet on the ground and is dedicated.
"He is at a club now that is allowing him to progress as a centre-half and a left-back.
"Joleon has been outstanding and our best player by a country mile this season. He is getting stronger, fitter and better in every game he plays."
