Lescott's form pleases Moyes

David Moyes is delighted with Joleon Lescott's recent form and believes the England defender has played a key role in his team's push for a Europa League place.

The former Wolves star's return to form resulted in him being recalled to the England squad for this week's games against Slovakia and Ukraine after he had been dropped for the February friendly against Spain.

Moyes told the Liverpool Echo: "Everyone knows that Joleon didn't start the season well and his form wasn't what he wanted it to be by any means.

"He expected better of himself but, all credit to him, I've seen his form improve dramatically over the last few months and he's become a really important player again.

"Up until we lost at Portsmouth we'd been on a good run and Joleon, like Mikel Arteta, was a big part of making that happen. We want the good performances and form to continue."
