Lescott plays down City link

Everton defender Joleon Lescott has brushed off reports linking him with a move to Manchester City.

The England international is rumoured to be a £12million target for the big-spending Citizens this summer.

But the former Wolves defender claims he is not contemplating ending his three-year stay with the Toffees.

Lescott, who started for England in Wednesday's 6-0 World Cup qualifying rout of Andorra, said: "We do not see much of the media side when we are away with England, but you cannot stop the papers speculating.

"It is not a question I want to be answering and no-one has said anything to me other than I am an Everton player.

"I am going on holiday now with my family to wind down for the next couple of weeks and then I will come back fully focused on getting fit for pre-season."
