Everton defender Joleon Lescott is confident that the Toffees can learn from their disappointing first leg display against Metalist Kharkiv and progress to the group stage of the UEFA Cup.
Andy Johnson missed two penalties in the first encounter between the two teams at Goodison Park, but former Wolves star Lescott believes David Moyes' side can build on the 1-1 draw.
"I think we didn't show them enough respect in the home leg and pushed a lot of men forward," he told the club's official website.
"It'll be a different game out there, we're going to have to sit back and look for the counter-attack.
"We kept a clean sheet in the Carling Cup win against Sheffield Wednesday and that provided a boost for Sunday (against Middlesbrough). We rode our luck a bit and if we iron out a few mistakes hopefully we can continue.
"We've created a lot of chances in the last couple of games, so if we can continue that into Thursday then who knows."
