Lescott plays down fourth talk

Everton defender Joleon Lescott admits that his side are more focused on the teams below them rather than setting their sights on a fourth-place finish. The Toffees currently sit sixth in the Premier League, seven points behind Aston Villa, who currently occupy the final UEFA Champions League berth. The race for the last Champions League place is hotting up with Arsenal also in the mix after they closed the gap on Villa to three points in midweek. David Moyes' men missed an opportunity to cut their deficit on Villa to five points when they were held to a 0-0 draw at Blackburn on Wednesday. "We're taking each game as it comes at the minute," Lescott told Sky Sports News. "If the others fail to capitalise on their position we will look forward to catching up. At the moment we are just focusing on the teams behind us." Despite declaring that a draw was a positive result, the 26-year-old insists that the club need to win games such as the one at Ewood Park if they want to qualify for Europe. "This season it's a good point away from home," he added. "Obviously Blackburn are fighting for survival but we need to win games like this if we want to push on for Europe."
