Lack of respect upsets Moyes
02 Aug 2009 - 11:15:30
Everton boss David Moyes is unhappy with they way Manchester City are conducting themselves in their pursuit of Joleon Lescott.
Everton have rejected two offers from City for the England international already this summer, but reports suggest Mark Hughes will increase his bid for the defender to £22million this month.
However, Moyes, who has said throughout the summer that he is unwilling to sell any of his players, told the Sunday Mirror: "It's about showing respect and we're not being shown that.
"I'm sure if I was Mark Hughes, with all the money he has, I'd try to buy the best players.
"But we try to go about it in a different fashion. I'd think I'd go about my business in the way I've always done.
"I've always tried to contact the managers and show respect to them in terms of transfers - and no matter how much money I might have to spend I'd always want to keep that up.
"It goes back to the managers having a drink together after the game, to the fact managers would still phone each other up when they're looking for a player.
"That is part of the way it should be done."
