Former Everton manager Howard Kendall hopes Toffees central defender Joseph Yobo pens a new contract and commits his future to the club. The Nigeria defender's current deal expires in the summer of 2010 and boss David Moyes has admitted the Toffees will look at his contract situation soon.Yobo, 28, joined the club from French giants Marseille in 2002 and has gone on to become a key figure for Everton. And Kendall would be delighted to see Yobo, who is currently out with a hamstring injury, stay on at Goodison Park.Kendall told the Liverpool Echo: "He has experienced a funny season in that he has missed a number of games through injury but he has looked a million dollars when Everton have been able to get him on the pitch."With only a year left on his current deal, the Blues could not run the risk of him potentially walking away for nothing and it makes sense to protect your asset."He added: "All being well, Yobo will stay and play his part in a defence that continues to go front strength to strength - a point proven by Leighton Baines call up to the England squad."[LNB]
