Jones yet to receive Ledley bid

Dave Jones has confirmed that Cardiff are still hoping to hold onto Joe Ledley after Hull City boss Phil Brown hinted that he may be preparing a bid. There has been plenty of speculation about the 22-year-old midfielder, with Everton and Stoke understood to be long-term admirers. And Brown has now suggested that he may launch moves for both Ledley and his Cardiff team-mate Ross McCormack in the near future. He told the Hull Daily Mail: "Joe Ledley, Ross McCormack and Daryl Murphy are all names who have been bandied around, but it is important that we do our business behind the scenes. "We've got a couple of medicals that will hopefully be successful this week and I've also got open dialogue with a number of players." Jones, though, says there has been no approach for Ledley at this stage and, while he admits they may have to cash in on certain players, he is still eager to see the Wales starlet sign a new deal. "We haven't started 'the silly week' as we call it in football because everybody is seeing what's around, what they can get before they let people go, and we're not different to them," he told Sport Wales. "But we've got to be careful. We can't let everybody go. "We don't want Joe to go - we want Joe to sign an extension to his contract and see where that leads us. "There's still been no enquiries for Joe at the moment. You get lots of whispers and everything else, but we want him to stay and we're hoping that no-one will come for him. "Joe is a good pro. He'll get his head down and he'll work hard again." Ledley has one year remaining on his current contract.
