Jo is toast of Toffees

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has piled praise on loan signing Jo following his impressive debut for the club.[LNB] The Brazilian striker has joined the Toffees on a deal which is set to run until the end of the season after enduring a disappointing start to life in England with Manchester City.[LNB]Jo arrived at Eastlands for £19million over the summer, but has failed to live up to that sizeable price tag.[LNB]He looked a shadow of the player that consistently caught the eye at CSKA Moscow and had forced his way into international reckoning with his country.[LNB]However, having a bagged a brace on his Everton debut against Bolton on Saturday, Howard believes Jo will prove his true worth on Merseyside.[LNB]"Jo looked dangerous, he scored a fine goal in the second half and won a penalty. Then when we got a second penalty nobody was going to take it away from him, that would have been greedy," said the American shot-stopper.[LNB]"You need a good start when you come to a new club and he certainly got that. For him it was fantastic.[LNB]"English football is crazy. You see so many top players coming here and it can be difficult for them.[LNB]"Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And it really makes a man out of you when you come to play in England.[LNB]"Jo is talented, we have seen that in training. Nobody pays £19million for someone who is not very good. He has a huge reputation but sometimes it doesn't work out.[LNB]"He needed a move and a change of scenery, and hopefully we can give him the confidence and support he needs. We have been really upbeat with him in training, he seems a really good guy.[LNB]"He got his goals, the crowd were really behind him and it has started really well for him here."[LNB]
