    Jacobsen blow hits Toffees

    11 Sep 2008 - 09:30:08

Everton are facing up to the prospect of losing Lars Jacobsen for a lengthy period after the Denmark defender suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder on Wednesday night.

The 28-year-old summer signing from Nurnberg was substituted at half-time during his country's 3-2 victory over Portugal in Lisbon.

Jacobsen has yet to make his debut for the Toffees following his arrival on a free transfer and could now be sidelined for around three months.

The right-back was expected to make his bow in Saturday's Premier League meeting with Stoke City.

Speaking last week, manager David Moyes claimed: "Lars looks like he's in good shape at the minute and has definitely come into my thoughts for Stoke.

"He's a good footballer with a good understanding of the game and uses the ball well. I saw him at the weekend and he did well. We know he'll give us options at right-back. We'll see how he is when he gets back."
