Jacobsen eager to play

Lars Jacobsen says he is not worrying about a new contract at Everton after finally making his debut. The Danish defender joined the Toffees on a one-year deal last summer only to be sidelined for several months by a dislocated shoulder. He has been on the bench in recent weeks before being handed his debut by David Moyes in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Portsmouth. Jacobsen has praised his team-mates for helping him during his battle to regain fitness and insists he is not concerned about securing an extension at Goodison Park. "There is no time to be worried about my contract," said Jacobsen. "I just have to stick in there and try to get more chances to play. "There is a good atmosphere and the spirit has been great. "Every day I came into training while injured and the other lads would come up and say 'Come on lad, you'll be fit soon enough'. "It's been great. They have been helping me along." Jacobsen came in at right-back against Pompey and is now hoping to retain his place for the club's next game against Wigan Athletic. He added on the club's official website: "I think I did OK. I've been out for a long time and I missed the rhythm in my play. "I'm not 100 per cent yet, but at least it's a start. I was happy to play. "There's another game in a couple of weeks and my aim is to just play well for the rest of the games that I get. I just want to play some more matches."
