Injured Everton[LNB]midfielder Mikel Arteta has been pencilled in for knee surgery in Spain on Tuesday.[LNB]The 26-year-old will fly to Barcelona with club medical staff on Monday with a view to undergoing an operation to repair a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee the following day.[LNB]Arteta is likely to be sidelined for at least six months but head physio Mick Rathbone, who will accompany the Spaniard for his operation, said he is already thinking about his comeback.[LNB] Mikel Arteta receives treatment for a knee injury during Everton's clash with Newcastle [LNB]'We are going to Barcelona on Monday to see the knee specialist over there,' he explained.[LNB]'We think he will operate on Tuesday and we will take it from there.[LNB] Everton star Mikel Arteta to turn to Cesc Fabregas surgeon[LNB]Everton renew their interest in Sporting star Joao Moutinho[LNB]EVERTON FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE NET[LNB][LNB]'Mikel is a very mature, strong guy and he's already talking about the start of next season.'[LNB]Everton have still not been able to assess the full extent of the damage to Victor Anichebe's right leg.[LNB]The 20-year-old Nigeria striker was injured by a horror tackle from Newcastlemidfielder Kevin Nolan at the weekend and bruising and swelling to the leg ismaking a proper examination difficult.[LNB]However, he is set to miss this Saturday's visit of Premier League bottom side West Brom.[LNB]'The scan has confirmed that he's badly bruised and he's also jarred the outside of his knee,' said Rathbone.[LNB] Victor Anichebe was injured by Kevin Nolan's horror tackle last weekend[LNB]'It's very difficult to clinically evaluate a limb when it's swollen.[LNB]'We are going to let it settle down over the weekend and then reassess.[LNB]'We may take him down to London and let the orthopaedic surgeon take a look at him too.[LNB]'Victor is very philosophical about it. He's wise for his age, it shook him up (the initial incident) but he's a tough boy.'[LNB]There is some good news on the injury front, however, with Steven Pienaar and Leon Osman, who have missed games with a hamstring injury and stomach strain respectively, possibly coming into contention for the weekend.[LNB] David Moyes is still aiming to finish fifth in the Premier League[LNB]'Steven and Leon are doing really well,' Rathbone told the club's website.[LNB]'They trained with me hard yesterday and we will look to see what they are like for the weekend.'[LNB]Manager David Moyes is going to need the vast majority of his injured players back if the club are to maintain their pursuit of fifth-placed Arsenal, who are just four points ahead.[LNB]'We want to keep hanging on to the shirt tails of the teams above us and keep the teams below us away,' he said.[LNB]'We are in sixth but at the worst we need to finish in fifth because there is no guarantee sixth will get you a European spot.[LNB]'We have to try to push for that if we can and hopefully in the final third of the season we can do that.'[LNB] Everton star Mikel Arteta to turn to Cesc Fabregas surgeon[LNB]Everton renew their interest in Sporting star Joao Moutinho[LNB]EVERTON FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE NET[LNB][LNB] [LNB]
